SUMMARY:

Responsible for performing activities associated with Virtual Test Environments (VTE) at various NSWCDD labs, running various Aegis Weapon System Baselines. These duties include performing unique tasks as assigned, providing systems support for test events, providing support to facility users, data collection, perform system troubleshooting and corrective. Perform preventive maintenance as well as documentation of work performed (log keeping). The position is not covered under the Service Contract Act (SCA) Davis Bacon Act (DBA), or union.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Responsible for setup, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, corrective, and preventive maintenance on VTE systems.
  • Actively support system users during their test events.
  • Responsible developing and using proper Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Responsible for making tactical logbook entries that are concise, accurate and provide sufficient detail relative to troubleshooting steps and what happened during user test event.
  • Responsible for utilizing all applicable security procedures while performing in the IWSL.
  • Responsible for installing, testing and documenting VTE System related IWSL local change notices for system hardware and software changes.
  • Responsible for generating Trouble Reports and updating/closing work candidates and configuration changes ensuring the information is detailed and accurate.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • May require occasional travel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE:

  • The Tactical Systems Technician (TST) shall have four (4) years of general Naval tactical O&M experience, including two (2) years of training and simulation systems O&M experience. Examples of tactical, training and simulations systems include AEGIS, SSDS, AC2SN, ACTS, BFTT, CEC, WASP, MLST3, ASTATS, and NGS.
  • Have experience and knowledge working with Virtual Machines VMs.
  • Have experience with VM Ware.
  • Have experience with NSX-T.
  • Have experience with Networking in general.
  • Have experience with CICSO Network Hardware.
  • Have experience with LINUX/Unix operations.
  • Must have or be able to attain a DOD Secret security clearance.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • The ability to work independently and complete a substantial body of work.
  • The ability to communicate and share knowledge and train other team members.
  • Aegis Computer Network Technician (ACNT) valuable.
