Job Description

The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Accounting Manager, Controller and the CFO in preparing and reporting accurate, reliable, and timely financial statements. This position will be responsible for recording journal entries, performing account reconciliations, assisting in period, quarterly and annual financial statement close processes, and operational financial support for the organization and its various entities.

Job Responsibilities


* Support daily, weekly, month-end, quarter-end and year-end accounting close for areas of functional responsibility. Activities performed include preparation of accruals, journal entries, account reconciliations, management reports and other financial analysis as required.

* Assisting the Accounting Manager/Controller/CFO with addressing issues and/or questions related to the monthly financial operating results and provide analysis of financial data, general ledger accounts, multiple entities, etc.

* Prepare and record journal entries for period close as well as daily transactional activities

* Prepares reconciliations of general ledger accounts and ensures timely resolution of outstanding issues, including but not limited to the accounts payable, payroll and accounts receivable accounting detail.

* Follow up and resolve outstanding balancing issues

* Accurate and efficient maintenance of the general ledger accounts

* Creates and posts accrual journal entries for revenue and expense accounts as applicable.

* Creates and posts adjusting journal entries as needed.

* Ensures accurate and timely compilation of accounting information, analysis and reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Company policies and procedures

* Provide support for external audits

* Responsible for ensuring accounting files and archives are maintained in accordance with company document retention policy

* Performs a variety of tasks and participate in special projects as requested

* Works under general supervision. Typically reports to the Accounting Manager or Controller, and CFO as needed.

* Perform other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with an emphasis in Accounting

* 5 to 7 years of relevant and progressive professional experience in accounting and/or finance accompanied by a comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, public accounting experience a plus

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Excellent general computer software skills (MS Windows, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, and MS Excel)

* Knowledge of accounting software applications (PeopleSoft a plus)

* Knowledge of general accounting principles

* Ability to work collaboratively cross-functionally contributing to team success

* Able to effectively handle multiple projects concurrently

* Detail oriented, highly motivated with strong work ethic and quality orientation

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

* Technical/professional knowledge and skills
