What success looks like in this role:

In this role, you will work closely with business leaders to shape and implement enterprise-wide trade compliance priorities and standards while ensuring best practices are shared across regions and business units. You will provide strategic direction and technical expertise in the development and oversight of corporate trade compliance: strategy, goals and objectives, policies, processes, and procedures .You will collaborate with others to enhance/develop a global training program for company associates, with targeted role-based training for key business functions. You will monitor the Company's global trade compliance program under applicable U.S. and foreign laws and regulations, including aligning with the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC), and other domestic and foreign government sanctions and controls. You will collaborate with product management, engineering, procurement, IT, legal, contracts, and other the business stakeholders on import/export and sanctions compliance requirements and serve as a subject matter expert for trade policies and procedures.

As this role, you will also:

  • Ensure Company operations comply with applicable international trade laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Work with IT and other Company stakeholders on any compliance automation initiatives.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and guidance to assist regional compliance teams, legal, contracts and procurement with the review, drafting and negotiation of export/import terms in customer, supplier and alliance contracts.
  • Work closely with product management and engineering to provide export classification subject matter expertise for solution offerings.
  • Provide guidance, leadership, and direction to personnel performing trade-related tasks and activities.
  • As a subject matter expert for trade compliance, serve as the central point of contact for interaction with government officials and customers' and suppliers' compliance representatives.
  • Identify trade compliance risks; develop and implement appropriate policies, processes and corrective actions.
  • Monitor deemed export and denied party screening activities for customers, suppliers, third-party agents, employees, and visitors.
  • Develop and implement an audit program of business units and facilities to maintain global trade compliance.
  • Analyze and interpret import/export, sanctions and other applicable trade regulations and maintain current knowledge of changes.
  • Provide regular updates of regulations and compliance requirements to senior management.
  • At the request of senior management, assist in other company matters including general compliance and merger and acquisition activities.

  • A Bachelor's degree and 5-8 years professional export and sanctions compliance management in a global corporate environment in the IT industry. Equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills with demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment where agility in the face of societal and organizational change is essential to success
  • Ability to lead across organizational and functional boundaries without direct-line supervisory authority to accomplish tasks.
  • Proficiency in the EAR and ITAR, OFAC and other domestic and foreign government sanctions and controls.
  • Experience in ECCN classification and licensing for software, hardware, and other technology, including encryption and biometrics technologies
  • Experience working with regulatory authorities.
  • Experience developing compliance policies and developing and delivering compliance training
  • Working knowledge of enterprise-wide automated trade compliance solutions/tools.
