Practice Details:

University of Minnesota Physicians seeks a Certified Physician Assistant or Certified Nurse Practitioner to join University of Minnesota Infectious Diseases and International Medicine team.

  • This is an outpatient practice based at the M Health Fairview Clinics and Surgery Center in Minneapolis.
  • This position will see new patients, urgent walk-in and same day/next day appointments, partnering with supervising physician.
  • New visits will include latent tuberculosis infection, sexually transmitted disease treatment and screening, pre-exposure HIV prophylaxis, post-exposure prophylaxis, uncomplicated viral hepatitis and C difficile infections and MRSA furunculosis and decolonization.
  • Will see patients for follow-up appointments for chronic conditions and post-hospitalization discharges.
  • The PA or NP is an experienced member of the health care team who uses advanced practice skill with the supervision/collaboration of licensed physicians to provide comprehensive health care services to patients. The Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner engages in independent decision making about health care needs and provides health care services to adult individuals throughout their life span. Provides physical and psychological health assessments, patient education and counseling, orders and interprets diagnostic procedures, and manages acute and chronic disease conditions ensuring continuity of care for individuals in the communities served.
  • Schedule is primarily days.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and formal Adult Practitioner training program or a graduate of an accredited Physician's Assistant program.
  • Current MN RN license and be approved or eligible by the Minnesota Board of Nursing for prescription writing privileges; or a current PA license with prescriptive authority through the MN Board of Medical Practice. Be certified through ANCC/AANP or eligible for ANCC/AANP national exam or through the NCCPA and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges.
