Company Overview
Webcrafters was there in the early days of web offset printing. And, we’ve been leading the way ever since. But our company is older than the technology that defines us today. Webcrafters purchased its first web offset press in 1959, 69 years after it was incorporated as the Democrat Printing Company – almost 100 years after it started operation and 34 years after Walter Frautschi joined the company. In 1965, the company changed its name to Webcrafters, reflecting its pioneering role in the web offset process. The Frautschi family has owned Webcrafters since the 1950s. Today, John Frautschi, Walter’s son, serves as Webcrafters’ chairman; and, Christopher Frautschi, John’s son, is an officer of Webcrafters in marketing and development. As a privately-held company, our long legacy of family commitment continues to have a powerful effect on our relationships with customers as well as employees, suppliers and the community. Integrity, straightforwardness and a lack of bureaucracy attract customers to Webcrafters and keep them coming back. Another attraction is the uncommon stability and experience of our workforce. More than half of our 650 employees have been with Webcrafters for more than ten years. Many employees have been with us for more than 20, 30 and even 40 years. Our loyal and long-serving employees are an extension of our company family, and they bring a family business commitment to their work for all of our customers, who represent a diverse array of educational, trade and catalog publishers.
