Job Description

The City of Renton is recruiting for Pro Shop Counter Staff at the Maplewood Golf Course. The schedule for this position varies and hours can range from 16 – 35 hours per week March through November. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a short term, part-time position.

  SUPERVISION:
  Reports To:  Golf Professional
  Supervises: none
 
  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Greet and welcome the golfing public in a friendly and helpful manner.
  • Provide City of Renton forms and policy information to the public.
  • Organize merchandise and operate point of sale system.
  • Operate driving range picker.
  • Direct cart staff as required.
  • Wash and stage golf carts as required.
  • Perform duties of range picker as assigned.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Minimum 1 year of retail sales experience.
  • Successful passing of a background check.
  • Successful passing of a credit check.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the position and an understanding of the game of golf.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of safety guidelines and practices. 
  • Skill in overseeing and leading the work of others. 
  • Ability to handle conflict and solve problems using tact, patience, and courtesy. 
  • Ability to navigate emergency situations. 
  • Work with diverse groups of people in a tactful, effective, and respectful manner. 
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, the community and program participants. 
  • Follow instructions, both written and verbal. 

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds on occasion.
  • Move throughout City facilities and buildings,
  • Operate a computer and other office equipment.
  • Communicate with City employees and residents.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work is performed indoors and outside in all weather conditions.
  • Work evenings and/or weekends as assigned.
