Position Overview
This Lecturer position is associated with the Bachelor of Science degrees in Human Resource Development (HRD) and Business and Marketing Education (BME) in the Department of Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development (OLPD) in the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD). OLPD offers interdisciplinary undergraduate degrees that prepare students to explore how individuals and organizations function in societal, community, workplace, and learning contexts. Undergraduate students in the department gain a foundational understanding of organizational culture, leadership, diversity, equity, and workplace communication and consider how organizations engage with these concepts internally and externally. Additional focused areas of study include marketing, sales education, project management, and leadership with attention to the evolving impact of technology, social identity and belonging, global and local context, as well as theories of learning and ways of knowing.
This position emphasizes the role of education and training in business and organizational settings. The selected candidate will be a part of the HRD graduate faculty group and expected to teach six (6) undergraduate courses during the 9-month academic year. Courses may include introductory options for students in their first year, opportunities focused on professional writing, societies of the future, teaching marketing promotion, presentations in work settings, training and development, and organization development, with additional potential teaching opportunities in the areas of adult learning, project management, and strategic customer relationship management. The selected candidate will also contribute to curriculum development and management and other service roles within the department as needed.
Appointment Details: The individual hired for this position will be appointed to a non-tenure full-time (100%), 9-month (B-Term) annually renewable (K Type) position as a Lecturer. Individuals on 9-month appointments may have, but are not guaranteed, the opportunity to teach additional courses in the summer. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.

The budget salary range for this position is $62,000 - $65,000. Final salary offers are dependent on the candidate's experience, skills, and internal equity within the department.
Job Responsibilities
Teaching (60%)
- Primary teaching responsibilities include courses within the HRD and BME undergraduate curriculum and those responsive to instructional needs in OLPD.
- Teach 3 undergraduate courses per each Spring and Fall semester (6 total) during the 9-month academic year.
- Grade student materials which can include exams, papers, and final projects.
- Submit grades in a timely manner.
- Review student evaluations of teaching each semester and continually adjust to strengthen and improve pedagogical practices.
Course/Curriculum Development (15%)
- Develop course materials such as syllabi, handouts, exams, and other teaching materials.
- Utilize program curriculum resources (lesson plans and Canvas site) to create an interactive learning experience for students, offering feedback to the program for continued refinement of curricular strategies.
- Review course materials and make adjustments responsive to content and student needs.
- Select books and other materials for the courses in consultation with departmental undergraduate leadership.
- Maintain knowledge of OLPD's full undergraduate curriculum, with flexibility to teach in new or emerging areas of need as requested by the Coordinator of Undergraduate Studies, Director of Undergraduate Studies, and Department Chair.
Student Development/Guidance (15%)
- Support and guide undergraduate students with research projects, directed study, and applied/non-classroom-based experiences.
- Contribute to departmental efforts to support undergraduate OLPD students seeking to graduate with university honors.
- Maintain regular office hours.
- Respond to student inquiries and meet with students as required.
Service/Outreach (10%)
- Participate in programs, department, college, university, local/regional schools and other service or civic engagement activities.
- Serve on internal committees, panels, and other department activities.
- Participate in the activities of relevant professional organizations.
