Description & Requirements

FORVIS’s Employee Benefit Plan Audit team assists our clients with complying with DOL and IRS requirements as well as reporting and disclosure requirements under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA).  This is a management-level position for someone looking to specialize in accounting, auditing, and compliance-related matters of benefit plans, with potential for career advancement. 

 

How you will contribute: 

  • Working on a variety of benefit plan audits, including defined benefit, 401(k), 403(b), profit-sharing, cash balance, and employee stock ownership plans. 
  • Understanding client service relationships and how to utilize firm resources to provide unmatched client service to existing clients 
  • Using technology tools proficiently in regular assignments and demonstrating a commitment to improving work processes using technology 
  • Recognizing problems and proposing efficient and effective solutions, with an appropriate balance between client needs and the firm’s risk 
  • Meeting assigned deadlines or budgets and providing advance warning of any variances 
  • Assisting in managing, developing, and coaching professional staff 
  • Participating in board and audit committee meetings presentations 
  • Building personal referral sources and clientele while actively participating in team marketing opportunities

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree required (Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred); CPA required
  • 5 years or more of relevant experience
  • Experience managing multiple client engagements simultaneously 
  •  Fluency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Outlook as well as Adobe and other programs

 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Previous experience in a public accounting firm or employee benefit plan experience (i.e. record-keeping, administration, etc.)
