Overview

Mentor, review and provide guidance for operations and staff, including all reporting.  Monitor processes and budgets to reduce waste and increase efficiency. Develop and track a workforce & equipment plan to align the needs and priorities of projects. Identify, train and develop key employees.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Effectively communicate MasTec’s beliefs throughout the organization
  • Promote culture of safety & quality workmanship in the field
  • Promote and communicate the Company quality policies and procedures, ensure they are in alignment with operational goals and hold site teams accountable for them.
  • Develop operational policies and procedures for maximizing safety, performance and profitability
  • Participate and/or lead problem solving and continuous improvement efforts
  • Monitor key metrics and develop operational strategies for profitability
  • Assist site teams in managing budgets and coordinate materials to ensure ongoing operations are equipped and staffed
  • Establish, communicate, and evaluate progress towards field goals and benchmarks
  • Resolve all issues and concerns relating to field office operations
  • Work with Project Management Team on salary, allowances, payments, etc.
  • Develop best practices and standard tools to use to continuously improve operational efficiency and ensure they are uploaded into Zavanta.
  • Streamline all field office operational, functional and administrative systems and insure they are in compliance with local laws and regulations
  • Develop workforce plan with Project Management Team for each project to include the general labor needs, supervisors, site management and equipment necessary for each project, as well as identify key employees and training needs that can be tied to project and company goals
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of required field reporting
  • Audit equipment matrix with field supervisor to ensure accountability for equipment
  • Oversee HR related procedures including recruitment, promotions, transfers, termination and salary negotiations
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis investigations and drive closure of accompanying action items
  • Provide feedback and performance related discussions to staff
  • Assist site teams in phasegate preparation.
  • Assist Estimating with bid preparation as required.
  • Must be able to substitute for onsite CM’s as needed. 

Training:

  • Assist site team with Performance Evaluations and processing of ESRs, Wage Changes and Manpower requests
  • Maintain credentials as required for training field staff.
  • Assist in tracking training that is required for all staff.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Complete performance evaluations for direct reports and assist as needed for all field staff.
  • Cross-train staff to be able to move between wind and solar.
  • Perform training duties as needed for pile, racking and module installation and other programs as needed.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward MasTec’s principles.
  • Apply principles of quality, lean kaizen and continuous improvement
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel,PowerBi, Zavanta, Procore and Outlook
  • Must have the ability to present to groups of 10-20 people for training.
  • Read, analyze and interpret blueprints, professional journals, technical procedures, contracts or governmental regulations
  • Write reports, technical specifications, work instructions, procedures, business correspondence and document quality related issues and activities
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from project managers, superintendents, clients, customers and the general public
  • Effectively communicate and develop positive working relationships with the owner, owner’s representative, and the Company’s site supervision, in order to facilitate the quality objectives
  • Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, statistics and geometry
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Must be able to travel the majority of the year to various jobsites. Travel is 80%.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
