Work Schedule | Move into dorm June 4, 2024 Training: June 5-June 7. Work Schedule Sunday 6 p.m. through Friday 12:00 p.m. Exception: Sunday, June 10 will begin at 1 p.m. Move out of the dorm Friday, July 12th, by 10 p.m. Resident assistants should expect to be on call and ready to work from Sunday evenings through Friday afternoons June 10 – July 12, 2024. Taking a college course during this time is highly discouraged. Room is provided; board contract is from Monday lunch through Friday lunch, breakfast is not included. |

Purpose of Position | Provide live-in supervision and a safe environment for motivated high school students. Assist students with academics, leadership abilities, team building, peer relationships, recreational activities, accessing the university campus, and act as a chaperone on great trips. We need mature, dependable, energetic young adults who enjoy working with teens. Ideal opportunity for future educators, but all majors encouraged. |
Primary Responsibilities | Responsible for the safety of students and other staff members; enforcing the rules of the Upward Bound Summer Handbook; monitoring, leading, and encouraging a team of students (usually 8 – 10) in daily and weekly activities; supervising and developing all the student participants (usually 20 – 25); assisting professional staff members during weekly field trips; designing and implementing evening programs for students; working as a positive team member with the other resident staff members; driving in an emergency; completing all paperwork by deadlines. |
Qualifications | Have graduated from high school in 2022 or earlier and have completed 60 college credits by the end of the spring semester 2024. 2.5 minimum GPA. Candidates must possess a driver’s license in case of emergency driving. Special consideration will be given to candidates who were Upward Bound students either at NKU or another institution or are from low income backgrounds and/or whose parents do not possess bachelor degrees. Any candidate who is offered this position will be required to go through a pre-employment criminal background check as mandated by state law.
