$21.05 hourly.  Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications.  Central Area/Cocoa/Central Disposal Facility/Travels Countywide.  Work schedule is variable and includes evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.  Performs skilled crafts and trades work in the maintenance and repair of mechanical and power-driven equipment in utility stations and plants for the Solid Waste Management Department.  May provide oversight to other maintenance staff as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS:  Five (5) years of experience in the mechanical repair and maintenance of industrial power-driven, mechanical equipment; OR two (2) years as a Brevard County Utility Mechanic I - Solid Waste.  Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.  SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:  Must possess, or obtain within six (6) months of employment, a valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver's license with air brake endorsement, and maintain said license and endorsement during the term of employment.  In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
