Job Description


The Mechanical Designer will work with Project Managers, Project Engineers and CAD Manger to manage and create all drafted documentation associated with projects. The documentation will primarily be created using the scope of the job and will span all elements of the project life cycle inclusive of gathering project requirements, preliminary and final design, procurement and As-Builts of equipment and materials, project monitoring and control. Work will also include updating management of documentation for existing equipment systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Effectively manage incoming calls.
  • Develop HVAC, Plumbing and Pipe fitting background drawings in CAD and REVIT
  • Perform Building Information Modeling (BIM), overlay multi trades drawings and identify area where systems installations will clash.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and plumbing codes.
  • Basic plumbing and duct work sizing and layout.
  • Compile Project manuals for the trades in field.
  • Compile closeout O&M manuals.
  • Compile and scan field redline drawings.
  • Print piping and equipment labels for field.
  • Maintain Design software and licensing.
  • Compile and review submittals for bid spec and design build projects
  • Assist with mechanical bidding including: Fastest computerized take offs, quantity counts, pre-bids, and bid deliveries.
  • Assist with FTP file management.

JOB SPECIFICATION:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design or Mechanical Engineering
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 3+ years' experience in mechanical design
  • Knowledge of CAD, REVIT, Navisworks, Trimble Sys-Que, Blubeam, & Fast Est (fast pipe & Fast Duct)
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and problem solve effectively
  • Prefab: using Revit and SysQue develop spool drawings for fabrication and field.
  • Digital construction document management systems for field and office.
