Summary: Responsible for many product design deliverables from product conception through market introduction, manufacturing support, and modification of current product designs. Provides assistance in the design of new and existing products to enhance product offerings, continually improve quality, maximize product value, and sustain a competitive advantage in the markets Perlick does business.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Functions as a valued team player who collaborates with their manager and cross functional teams to document engineering design features and requirements.
Documents design concepts and helps determine the appropriate materials, components, systems, and process methods to meet those requirements.
Prepares 3D models and engineering drawings in SolidWorks of components and assemblies, with an emphasis on design for platform/design for assembly. Performs peer review of others work.
Performs detailed engineering change management activities to create, update, or obsolete critical components and end products in the company’s Product Development Management (PDM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
Assists the Manufacturing Release team through the creation of DXF or other digital formats that drive fabrication equipment.
Prepares and maintains Autodesk REVIT files for distribution to architects and designers via the Perlick and third-party websites.
Assists in communicates conceptual ideas and solutions to internal teams.
Collaborates with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and other cross functional staff to identify and correct any weaknesses in products to ensure solutions meet aesthetic, functional and regulatory design criteria.
Works with internal and external partners to define prototypes used to validate engineering performance predictions or demonstrate new product features and benefits.
Performs basic data analysis and reports findings to support design recommendations.
Participates in project team meetings, including formal design reviews.
Keeps their manager and other stakeholders apprised of project status and ongoing issues.
Able to travel to suppliers, development partners, and manufacturing plants as required to support company goals.
Delivers general engineering capabilities and effort as needed to meet product launch goals.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Associate degree in Mechanical Design Manufacturing Engineering Technology required. Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering Technology preferred.
2 - 5 years of experience in a Product Development or Manufacturing environment using SolidWorks CAD and PDM.
1 or more years of ERP part master and BOM creation experience
Excellent written and verbal communication
Resiliency and a passion for problem solving
United States work authorization
DESIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Experience with sheet metal fabrication design, machining, metal joining, and assembly methods.
Knowledge of third-party certification processes such as UL and NSF
Knowledge of Autodesk REVIT family creation to the FCSI standards
