Senior Technical Specialist - Military Inlets and Exhausts, Materials

As the Senior Technical Specialist for Military Inlets and Exhausts, Materials position you will have the opportunity to join our Liberty Works advanced development group. You will work in a high-performance team to deliver next generation product solutions.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead technical materials development in key interest areas which include: coatings, Organic Matrix Composites (OMC), Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMC), and monolithic ceramics
  • Identify materials requirements to meet survivability subsystem design needs both short and long term, and develop strategic roadmaps to fulfill requirements
  • Identify material selections and supporting databases (applications engineering) to enable survivability subsystem designs
  • Represent Inlet and Exhaust Materials technology to Customers as required
  • Cultivate and maintain productive interfaces with both Inlets and Exhausts system disciplines and Rolls-Royce Corporate Materials group, as well as with outside customer groups, to deliver responsive solutions
  • Develop and maintain behaviours that meet all individual and corporate security requirements
  • Lead technical evaluations of potential suppliers of new or developmental materials, processes, and components
  • Develop materials specifications and standards for development and product hardware

Basic Requirements:

  • Associates degree with 10+ years experience in material science or materials engineering OR;
  • Bachelors degree with 8+ years experience in material science or materials engineering OR;
  • Masters degree with 6+ years experience in material science or materials engineering OR;
  • JD/PhD with 3+ years experience in material science or materials engineering
  • In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance, which requires US Citizenship

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience with materials design for survivability needs on gas turbine inlet and exhaust systems
  • Extensive experience in material science and materials development
  • Successful execution of programs with external research partners
  • Contacts with US Government/Department of Defense funding agencies
