The world's leading private security organization, G4S, has an immediate job opportunity for a Regional Director, Health, Safety and Environment. The Regional Director, Health, Safety and Environment provides direct management of various Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) functions and support for Vice President, HSE in rollout and implementation of safety programs, policies, and new initiatives. Ensures that management and project personnel are aware of and in compliance with all regulatory agencies, such as OSHA, EPA, etc. Prepares reports, manages all safety incidents, takes corrective action, and makes recommendations to management for continuous improvement.

This position provides regional leadership and direction for the G4S Secure Solutions (USA) Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) program. Works to develop and continuously improve the programs, policies, and procedures through innovation while maintaining compliance with all Federal, State, and Local safety and environmental regulatory standards. Serves as a company representative to external regulatory agencies such as OSHA or EPA, groups such as the National Safety Council, and customers. Prepares metrics reports, manages incidents, and works with all G4S groups to develop and maintain a world class health, safety and environment program.

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Develop the overall strategy of continuous improvement for G4S HSE within the region
  • Develop and implement programs, policies, and procedures in accordance with safety standards
  • Provide oversight on leading investigations in conjunction with regional management and supervision
  • Develop, revise, and implement health, safety and environment policies, programs, and procedures
  • Conduct site inspections and interface with individual site project managers, supervisors, employees, and HSE professionals
  • Manage direct report staff to include professional development, support, and approvals
  • Develop and manage group budget in compliance with G4S strategic financial goals
  • Enforce Federal, State, Local, company, customer and project health, safety and environment regulations, policies and procedures
  • Work with regional management and supervision in promoting and maintaining G4S' safety culture.
  • Solicit and collaborate with all levels of the G4S organization in enhancing and promoting the HSE programs, policies and procedures
  • Assist in development and establishment of regional and local safety committees as well as participation in those committees
  • Assist in the development and establishment of local office safety coordinators
  • Interface on safety matters with customer contacts and assist with safety assessments for new customers
  • Make companywide, regional, and local safety and training communications; address issues
  • Provide HSE technical expertise
  • Maintain knowledge of all safety-related trends and research safety issues for the refinement of programs
  • Draft, review, and finalize region's safety reports and safety records
  • Work with Third Party Administrators (TPA) for contractor approval (e.g., ISNetWorld, Avetta, etc.) as well as TPA Management Company
  • Interface with company Risk Management department and insurance carriers
  • Monitor subcontract safety programs and incidents as required
  • Review Request for Proposals (RFP) for health, safety and environment concerns

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess a Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety, HSE Management, Safety Engineering, or a related field
  • Must possess one or more of the following certifications:
    • Current Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or be able to obtain ASP within 12 months of hire and CSP within 24 months
    • Current Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or be able to obtain CSP within 12 months if currently ASP certified
    • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification and/or foreign (non-US) certifications
  • Must possess one or more of the following:
    • Completion of the OSHA 500 course for the construction industry
    • Completion of the OSHA 501 course for general industry
  • Must possess a current and valid driver's license

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • Must possess a minimum of five (5) years of health and safety related management experience within the safety environment
  • Work history must demonstrate a working knowledge of regulatory standards and associated laws related to safety and environment
  • Must have experience with Google platform programs

  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Must have effective communication skills in interpreting requirements, providing reports, and advising senior management
  • Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Must have the ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret regulations, standards, and specifications, as well as common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and other documents
  • Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Physical Requirements and Environment

Environment: Office and field environments; minimal exposure to extreme temperatures is expected
