Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities:

  • Identify key supplier technical capabilities across all supplier tiers and execute improvement and realignment plans
  • Contribute to supplier selection and sourcing decisions and serve as a technical resource to Engineering, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing and Operations on all supplier quality, design, engineering, technology, pricing and service issues
  • Support supplier training and performance improvement plans
  • Ensure that all cost and delivery targets for parts and services within the assigned engineering segment are met
  • Provide input on key design modifications for supplier parts and components
  • Develop strategies for improve existing supplier network performance
  • Analyze design, compatibility and performance issues, and prepare contingency re-alignment plans to ensure uninterrupted supply of highest quality components and services
  • Develop and foster positive working relationships with suppliers
  • Coordinate supplier APQP activities for new projects and evaluate changes to supplied parts
  • Facilitate the timely containment and closure of supplier quality issues that affect production plants
  • Provide technical input into the overall supplier selection and sourcing process
  • Analyze supplier performance and recommend solutions for development and improvement
  • Advise business units on supplier development issues
  • Perform audits of suppliers to ensure they best support the business.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical/Industrial/Automotive Engineering plus three (3) years of quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, supplier development engineering, or related experience, including one (1) year of experience working with automotive accreditation standards
  • Developing metrics for rating suppliers and conducting statistical analysis
  • Sourcing, selecting and developing parts suppliers
  • Tracking supplier performance and resolving technical issues
  • Communicating design modifications and requirements to suppliers.
