The Medical Assistant performs a variety of duties related to providing patient care.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare examination rooms and sterilizing equipment

  • Room patients, obtain health history, check vital signs and perform EKG's

  • Administer injections and collect specimens

  • Document patient care using NextGen electronic medical record software

  • Schedule appointments, complete prior authorizations, process medication refills, handle referrals, answer calls and complete paperwork

  • Assist physicians and nurse practitioners with minor, in-office procedures

Required Qualifications:

  • High School/GED
  • Medical Assistant Diploma and/or Medical Assistant Certification or ability to obtain a Medical Assistant Certification within the first 6 months of employment (CCMA, AMT, AAMA, NHA, NCCT, NAHP)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant
  • CPR certification
  • NextGen experience
  • EHR/EMR experience

Proof of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases is an employment requirement.
