Job/Internship Description

The Mobile Apps & Services (MAS) group of the DevOps Hub Americas is an internal team which specializes in designing, developing, testing, and operating custom software for all brands and services of BMW Group (BMW, BMWi, BMW Motorrad, MINI, Rolls-Royce, etc.) for both local and global markets. Custom software that is developed by this team primarily focuses on mobile and web solutions which includes cloud-based infrastructure, and containerized applications and micro-services. Within the MAS group is the Test Automation (Spider) team which comprises of test managers and test engineers, which are steered by an Agile Master.


The student will support the Spider team by translating user requirements into codable tests, coding the tests, running and reporting on the results of said tests, and then taking the next step in configuring the tests within the Spider team's test automation suite to fully automate the test scripts and unit tests. As an intern/co-op within the Spider team it will be expected to interface with the other DevOps team within the MAS group, present work to the Spider team lead (Agile Master), the MAS group manager, as well as the entire MAS team the work that has been accomplished. For each of these reasons good communication skills is a must. All software written by the teams of the MAS group are either based on Swift, Javascript, as well as the occasional need for Python; the computer science intern must be comfortable working with object-oriented languages with a strong emphasis on Javascript. All interns/co-ops within the MAS group are fully integrated within the team and are expected to contribute collaboratively working on one or more of the software products within the portfolio of MAS products; however, they will also be mentored by an internal team member. While test automation is the primary focus, the intern/co-op will also have the opportunity to look for areas of opportunity to make improvements by way of new technical solutions and then propose, design, build, and implement those solutions.

  • Experience with Git based source code version control

  • Experienceworking with MacOS

  • Knowledge of object oriented design patterns

  • Knowledge ofAtlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo) a plus

  • Knowledge of testautomation platforms a plus

  • Knowledge of containerization software a plus (e.g.docker)

  • Experience with data sciences a plus

  • Possessa minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major)
  • Havefull-time status at an accredited four-year college or university in the UnitedStates
  • Completedat least 30 credit hours at time of application
  • Ableto complete 3 alternating work terms for Co-op positions
  • Ableto work full-time (40 hours / week)
  • Transferstudents must have a GPA from current university
  • MUST ATTACH A COPY OFUNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT
  • Completeand pass a substance abuse test before the work term
