This is a remote position.

The territory includes: Southern California up to south of Sacramento and Nevada. This role requires heavy travel.
This is a universal job description meant to capture some of the primary duties of this role that are common across functions or divisions. It is not intended to represent all of the specific responsibilities of your position. The Area Sales is responsible for managing and developing a group of +/- eight Asthma Disease Specialists dedicated to meeting and exceeding sales objectives and to make Novartis the preferred partner in the Allergy and Pulmonology medical community.
This includes implementation of national and regional strategies for the promoted product line. Customers include office-based physicians; hospital based respiratory physicians, specialty distributors, consultant pharmacists, medical directors, key medical and nursing personnel among others. The incumbent will be responsible for the hiring, training and development of sales consultants, performance evaluation and compensation, and efficient and effective account targeting and coverage, strong analytical skills are required to effectively use personal and promotional resources in order to maximize sales and market share.
ASM's will have heavy field coaching responsibilities and at times partner with representatives to close the sale.

This position will require a strong ability to work
cross-functionally with Genentech mirror business units and Regional Account Managers, mass-market customer business units, Regional Account Managers, and the therapeutic business units.
Major Accountabilities include:
*Grow sales volume, market share, and profitability to meet business goals, deliver top and bottom line sales results, manage revenue deductions or achieve top and bottom line objectives
*Meet sales force productivity goals
*Anticipate, monitor and report on changes in marketplace, including customer resistance to marketing initiatives, etc.
*Own and manage key customer/stakeholder relationships
*Develop area strategies, assist in individual account strategies and Monitor and drive the performance of direct reports
*Foster an environment that promotes and uphold Ethics and Compliance policies.

Minimum requirements
Undergraduate degree required, preferably in Life Sciences, Pharmacy or Business related discipline; MBA preferred
Experience:
Internal: Current Novartis associate that has successfully completed the Novartis Sales Management Development Program (SMDP). Current Novartis Sales Associate with 2+ years of pharmaceutical/biotech sales management experience within the last two years or current Novartis Sales Associate with 2+_ years of pharmaceutical/biotech management experience who were formerly a first line sales manager within the last two years at prior company.

External: Current pharmaceutical/biotech sales manager with 2+ years management experience.
Brand/product marketing experience and understanding of the marketing processes; previous managed markets experience; thorough knowledge of the integrated healthcare system; Business analysis; financial management; strategic planning experience

Preferred: Experience in Respiratory selling or leading associates who sell biologics/specialty product(s) with a complex distribution pathway. Experience leading associates in an extremely competitive marketplace. Previous co-promote experience.
