As a result of our growth, we are seeking an Architect, or Intern Architect in the process of becoming registered, with 3 to 7 years of experience to support our growing Center City Philadelphia studio. This emerging group has a developing design portfolio of work with Philadelphia area clients, with active projects spanning K-12 schools, community facilities, major public spaces and transportation/infrastructure facilities, such as the renovation of SEPTA's Center City Pedestrian Concourse system. Additionally, JMT is also actively leading multiple, major program management assignments in the region, such as Rebuild Philadelphia, with total program values exceeding $1B. These assignments offer the unique opportunity for extensive collaboration and the ability to positively impact hundreds of projects and the Philadelphia community.

Duties include the production of architectural designs, presentation, and construction documents; and assisting with the performance of all phases of architectural work including programming, design, documentation, and project/construction administration. Candidates must demonstrate collaboration, organization, and coordination skills. Must excel at working with staff, clients, contractors, and project teams to complete the design and production of architectural projects, and to ensure that construction documents are in compliance with design intent and meet client goals. Successful candidates must demonstrate prior work experience with the production of construction documents utilizing REVIT. Experience with transportation, aviation, K-12 education, government, corporate, and interiors projects. Excellent design, graphic, and verbal presentation skills are essential to this position.

Required Experience
  • Minimum of an accredited Bachelor of Architecture degree, Master's degree a plus
  • 3 to 7 years' experience in architecture
  • Registered Architect or in process
  • Experience with sustainable design, LEED certification a plus
  • Proficiency with Autodesk REVIT, AutoCAD and related tools and process
  • Familiarity with BIM360 and/or related collaboration platforms
  • Experienced in preparation of architectural contract documents including drawings and specifications
  • Familiarity with producing 3D architectural renderings with software such as Revit, Lumion, SketchUp, or Rhino
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Microsoft Project a plus.
  • Familiarity with Construction Administration / Project Management Information Systems software (Primavera Unifier, e-Buildier) is a plus.
  • Excellent written and communication skills; excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; good planning skills
  • Knowledge of building materials, specifications, construction techniques with the ability to research and resolve technical issues
  • Knowledge of building codes
  • An attitude and commitment towards personal growth and team success
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Some travel to job and construction sites required

Working Conditions and Location:

  • This position is based at JMT Center City Philadelphia offices.
  • Occasional travel to project sites, client and other JMT office locations is expected and might include rare weekend or evening activities.
  • Work is performed within a general office environment approximately 90% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
  • Field work is performed approximately 10% of the time and requires the ability to perform bending, kneeling, standing, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Field work will require walking and carrying field equipment over typical outdoor and job site terrain. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
