Position Summary:

Sony Corporation of America currently has an opening for a Technology Strategy & Planning Associate in its Strategy and Planning Office, U.S. Research Center, located in San Jose, CA. As a Strategy & Planning Associate, you will be involved in performing a key support role in the open innovation strategy and planning process for the research behind future products and services and the creation of innovative and new capabilities to support business growth. You will also directly support the Sony Research Award Program and other evolving initiatives that are focused on forming collaborations with faculty in leading universities throughout North America and beyond. Through this position you would have the opportunity to have an impact on Sony's strategy.

Required qualifications:

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of related professional experience in a technology products company
  • Excellent Office software skills including Word and Excel proficiency.
  • Ability to work independently and/or in a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills including proficiency with PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally on occasion.
  • All candidates must be authorized to work in the USA.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Three (3) years or more of experience negotiating university agreements/contracts.
  • Experience applying for and obtaining U.S. Government research grants.
  • Experience interfacing with U.S. university professors and their staff.
  • Experience with Japanese culture and counterparts.
  • Experience with Salesforce, other CRM software package, and defining CRM best-practices.
  • Experience in strategy formulation and strategy presentation.
