Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Java developer who prefers to work in a collaborative environment on a variety of different software systems. We support policy administration applications ranging from internally facing web applications to PowerBuilder to mainframe backend systems. We leverage many different tools and technologies such as Java, mainframe, SQL Server, DB2, and ETL and have exciting modernization efforts on the horizon. We are a highly collaborative agile team that creatively delivers solutions to complex business problems. We serve customers of credit unions and other financial institutions with debt related products that mitigate their financial risk when they experience an event that impacts their ability to pay it back. Securian is a leading provider of financial protection insurance products in the United States and Canada.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Develop and support business critical solutions for the financial institution market in the United States and Canada through strong collaboration within the team, with business partners, and various other internal platform delivery teams.
- Perform analysis, design, development, testing, integration, and implementation activities of medium to high complexity. Work to solve problems innovatively and with a test and learn mindset.
- Provide ongoing support for business applications and respond to production needs.
- Support modernization efforts such as moving to AWS.
- Develop and maintain FIG and CPL business knowledge.
- Ensure effective and favorable relationships are developed and maintained with key stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Required skills:
- Java (3-5 years of experience)
- Strong collaborator and communicator
- Excellent problem solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience on an agile scrum team
- Java batch, Spring batch
- HTML, JSF
- Mainframe (z/OS, PL/I, JCL)

Physical Job Requirements
* Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 8 hours per day
