Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP, a transatlantic law firm, seeks a Patent Coordinator for its Palo Alto, California office. The Patent Coordinator will support members of the Intellectual Property Practice Group focused on patent prosecution.
Job Requirements:
The Patent Coordinator is responsible for assisting a team of attorneys, patent agents, and legal practice assistants. The job involves preparing file openings, preparing Information Disclosure Statements ("IDS"), handling foreign office actions, reviewing cited art, researching pending U.S. matters, preparing supplemental IDS in U.S. cases, preparing reporting letters, and coordinating declarations. Check status of reminders in worksite, reminders for reporting office actions. Other tasks may include maintaining files, assisting with forms, proofing patents, communicating with clients regarding status of U.S. assignment documents and U.S. Declarations, updating case spreadsheets, handling assignment recordation, preparing agreements, paying issue fees, reporting out Notice of Allowances, reporting out payments, divisional letters, and file continuations, preparing granted patent letters to clients and foreign associates, and track prior art. Administrative tasks may include entering billable time, assisting attorneys with prebills, entering expense reimbursements.

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) is preferred and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior law firm experience is a plus. The candidate must have excellent knowledge of English grammar, proofreading and English composition skills as well as a disciplined eye for quality checking document accuracy. The candidate must have excellent computer skills and a strong knowledge of MS Word, Windows, Outlook, Excel and Adobe are required.
