Job Description
Research Faculty (190002VL)

Responsible for generating and testing hypothesis related to a field of research by initiating, carrying out, and managing research projects/programs
supported by external, peer reviewed sources. Also responsible for other job specific academic activities including but not limited to: securing funding
from external sources, supervising laboratory staff and student, supervising graduate and post-doctoral research staff, developing educational programs, teaching assignments and publishing in recognized, peer-reviewed journals.


Qualifications

Minimum Education
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
Medical Doctor (M.D.)

Specific Requirements and Preferences
(or equivalent doctoral degree) in an accredited college or university (Required) Or
(or equivalent doctoral degree) in an accredited college or university (Required)

Minimum Work Experience
2 years

Specific Requirements and Preferences
Progressive specialized experience in a field of research. Demonstrated potential to make unique contributions in their research field. (Required)

Functional Accountabilities

Commitment to Research
1. Conduct research of significant scientific value in the basic and/or translational science area(s) relevant to his/her practice specialty.
2. Participate to review manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.
3. Publish in peer-reviewed, scientific, quality and management journals.
4. Submit applications for grants or contracts for funding of research projects.
5. Participate in research committees and workshop special interest groups.

Conduct of Research
1. Consistently demonstrate adherence with the standards for the responsible conduct of research.
2. Plan, conduct, and manage research projects within the federal and institutional regulations and policies.
3. Responsible for appropriate use of research funds.
4. Supervise staff and students.

Teaching
1. Mentor graduate/post-doctoral students.
2. Participate in educational programs and teaching assignments.
