Job Description

1st Shift (M-F) 5:00 AM 1:30 PM

JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE: Under the direction of the Group Leader, the Tool & Die Technician will collaborate, design, maintain, create and repair fixtures and dies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Coordinate with the Group Leader to plan short-term goals
  • Prepare blueprints and documentation as needed. Perform any assembly required to complete work.
  • Obtain quotes on new tooling as required
  • Repair and/or clean all dies and fixtures as required to maximize machine uptime throughout the company.
  • Sharpen tooling according to specifications.
  • Perform assigned preventive maintenance activities according to schedule and specifications.
  • Order tool room stock and supplies as needed.
  • Act as a technical resource to production to address and resolve inquiries and problems.
  • Participate on cross functional teams to ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of processes, methods, productivity and quality, while reducing costs.
  • Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires the completion of an apprenticeship program or a two year technical college program or a minimum of five years of related experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret detailed documents such as blueprints, work plans, safety rules, and operating and maintenance instructions. Ability to complete all required reports, documentation, records, etc. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as cutting speeds and feeds, proportions, percentages, area, volume and circumference. Ability to apply concepts of algebra, trigonometry and geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
