Job Description
Qualifications
  • 10+ years' experience in industry or consulting environment in senior roles
  • Progressive career trajectory, outstanding professional achievement and impact
  • Holistic understanding of all aspects of the procurement function - sourcing strategies, negotiation & contracting, supplier management, business partnering, procure-to-pay process, organization, performance management and enabling digital solutions
  • Strong history of leading sustainable high-impact digitally-enabled procurement operating model transformation programs
  • Deep knowledge of leading procurement cloud tools and solutions, and application of digital disruptors like AI, Machine Learning etc. to enhance impact
  • Demonstrated track record of assessing and driving transformational improvements with deep expertise in developing, coaching and mentoring leaders at all levels
  • Industry expertise in basic materials, chemicals, financial services, healthcare, high tech, oil & gas, or pharmaceuticals is desired
  • Collaborative team player, capable of working well with others but also autonomously with little direction
  • Strong interest in knowledge development, i.e., contributing to articles, experiential learning and a passion for capability building
  • Comfortable with extensive travel (greater than 80 percent)
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master/MBA degree with superior academic achievement preferred

You'll join one of our North American offices to work with McKinsey's Procurement Operating Model offering as part of the Operations Practice and Product Development and Procurement service line in North America.
Our Procurement Operating Model offering team assists our clients in solving the world's toughest problems on Procurement organization design, digital enablement process optimization, capability building and governance. Blending strategic thinking with hands-on practicality, our team of consultants and experts work to develop and implement actionable strategies that solve our clients' most critical problems on a global scale.
Procurement Operating Model is a rapidly growing offering that helps organizations achieve a competitive advantage through the development of world-class purchasing and supply management capabilities.

What You'll Do
You will work in teams and play a key part in structuring and executing operating model transformations that deliver distinctive business results.
You'll do this by designing and deploying the next-gen procurement operating model characterized by streamlined processes, digital tools, data and advanced analytics; organizational agility and effective governance and future-relevant skills, continuous improvement culture and mindset.
You will be both a thought leader and skilled practitioner, focused on helping our clients transform their procurement organizations while simultaneously solving operational issues across the business enterprise. Often, this involves fundamentally changing the corporate organization and culture to embrace lasting change. McKinsey's teams work alongside our clients' senior management and top talent in aggressively pursuing operational improvement.
You will be expected to help analyze and optimize client's procurement processes and collaborate with them in designing, developing and deploying fit-for-purpose digital and analytics solutions to unlock new sources of value.
You will get to design new organizational structures, roles and governance models for global supply chain organizations by upgrading line and staff skills, changing the structure of reporting relationships, developing improved processes and procedures, and/or instituting a rigorous target-setting and performance-monitoring systems.
Additionally, you'll work with the client to realize immediate savings by building and executing sourcing a strategy for each major spend category and you'll rationalize operational assets and networks to optimize levels of effectiveness and efficiencies.
In collaboration with our worldwide network of consultants and experts, you'll shape McKinsey's thinking in this area, continuously developing your own knowledge, as well as that of the firm. This includes, but is not limited to, developing and sharing knowledge (white papers, speaking presentations, internal training and team development), recruiting and leading a team of consultants who can meet our clients changing needs and implementing best in class next-gen Procurement Operating Models.
There is flexibility to hire at either the Expert or Senior Expert tenure depending on the qualifications of the candidate.
