Summary/Objective
The Data Quality and Fraud Investigator (DQFI) position is responsible for resolving data quality issues and/or conducting investigations and compiling evidence packages in support of potential fraud cases within the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) systems.
Key Duties
The Data Quality and Fraud Investigator (DQFI) will become competent in utilizing various VBA systems and processes in order to identify, review, resolve, and synchronize data traits and anomalies across systems.
Provide case management and investigative reports on instances of inaccurate death notices
Communicate with appropriate offices and individuals to resolve issues or provide supporting evidence/information
Prepare comprehensive evidence/data packages in support of fraud investigation
Perform the coordination and case management to retrieve and consolidate evidence in support of fraud investigation
Document actions to close out tasks/tickets
Deliver feedback on existing processes in order to improve and refine processes for future improvement and efficiency
Act as an advocate for veterans and their beneficiaries in their dealings with other VA elements and organizations that affect their claims
Basic Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (relevant work experience will be considered)
Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, SharePoint)
Ability to learn new applications and systems
Proven ability to manage a significant workload with minimal supervision
Good communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
Good organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills
Proficiency with computers are a must
Desired Skills & Qualifications
Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) experience
Knowledge/experience with MVI Toolkit, VBMS, VETSNET, BIRLS, SHARE, EVSS, HcIDM, BDN, and Corporate Database
Civilian or DoD Clearance
Security Clearance
Public Trust – This position will require a Background Investigation (if individual does not currently hold a clearance). Individual will be required to obtain the proper credentials for working at the VA during the onboarding process)
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
This position is primarily sedentary with some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of lightweight items.
Travel
Travel is not expected, but may occasionally occur.
