We are growing! As Children's National continues to expand outpatient resources for our community, we have a new opportunity for an Infusion Nurse Practitioner for the main hospital campus outpatient clinic. This is an exciting opportunity for a clinician interested in program development!
The Infusion Nurse Practitioner demonstrates an advanced level of medical/nursing clinical knowledge, communication, interdisciplinary collaboration, and professional practice. This role collaborates with administrative, nursing, and physician staff to assure safe, effective, quality patient care.
The NP is responsible for exclusively overseeing the care of infusion patients (will not include chemotherapy patients)
Required Skills:
Education
Masters or Doctorate's degree from accredited nursing program Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in DC (Active RN and APNP license, or Credentialing Eligible)

Nursing leadership experience for example as an educator, preceptor, council member or comparable positions (Required)

Strong knowledge of clinical specialty and services. Demonstrates clinical leadership skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Required Licenses and Certifications
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)
BLS certified. CDS and DEA in state(s) of clinical practice.
Functional Accountabilities
Clinical
1. Assess, diagnose, monitor and promote clinical status of each patient utilizing evidenced based practice and medical knowledge
2. Develops appropriate plan of care
3. Writes patient care orders, prescribes therapy, and provides necessary home care orders as needed
4. Identifies significant changes in patient status using physical exam, lab values, diagnostic tests, and patient/family input
5. Differentiates between normal and abnormal findings
6. Performs procedures as needed after obtaining appropriate credentialing
7. Participates in and leads multidisciplinary patient care and planning conferences.
8. Is a clinical resource for patient, parents and the interdisciplinary team.
9. Communicates and escalates clinical/administrative issues as appropriate
1. Collaborates with nursing, medicine, and other members of the healthcare team to regularly ensure quality patient care
Administrative
1. Serves as a clinical preceptor to APRN or PA students
2. Acts as a clinical resource for staff in patient care issues
3. Provides formal/informal educational presentation to staff on areas of expertise
4. Participates in quality improvement work for the department
