Primary Function

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Responsible for providing assistance to and working with the School Nurse and applicable stakeholders to address the medical needs of students (and staff/visitors in emergency situations only).

Primary Duties

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  1. Facilitate all aspects of delivering health services and support to students to meet health screening requirements (provide first aid/emergency care to students, assist with communicable disease control [including head lice inspections], assist with health screenings, maintain and/or monitor supplies for classroom and fieldtrips, etc.). E
  2. Facilitate all aspects of reporting and/or record keeping requirements (record/input health information/data, maintain accurate/confidential/appropriate records and documentation for all health care provided, communicate necessary information in a timely and confidential manner to applicable stakeholders, assist with site lists of significant health conditions/student exemptions/students receiving medication, etc.). E
  3. Ensure a secure, safe, and healthy environment. E
  4. Follow all legal, organizational and contractual requirements, laws and policies. E
  5. Prepare, complete, distribute, and/or submit required items by due dates. E
  6. Attend meetings and professional development activities, as requested. E
  7. Establish and maintain good communication, collaboration, and cooperation with all stakeholders. E
  8. Follow all duties of a mandated reporter. E
  9. Perform other related duties, as assigned. E
  10. Be a team player. E
Required Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  1. HSD/GED and minimum of 60 college credits from an accredited school.
  2. CPR and First Aid training and Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) certification required.
  3. Valid WI DPI Special Education License or ability to obtain/apply for emergency license within two (2) weeks from date of hire.
  4. Minimum of one (1) year professional experience working in the health care profession.
  5. Bilingual, Spanish and English, strongly preferred.
  6. Able to demonstrate positive cultural intelligence with diverse groups and individuals.
  7. Excellent critical thinking, organizational skills, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  8. Excellent communication, verbal and written, interpersonal skills, and ability to work with others.
  9. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office suite.
  10. Transportation, valid Wisconsin Driver's license, state minimum auto insurance, and must meet La Causa, Inc. driving standards.
  11. Must be able to successfully pass criminal history background checks.
  12. Must be able to work flexible hours based on program needs.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is generally performed in office, classroom, and school environments. Infrequent local/state-wide travel. Flexible hours required; as dictated by program needs.
