The Senior/Supervising Geoscientist will provide technical leadership for marine geophysical site investigation reporting projects; responsible for multiple simultaneous routine projects; provides technical consultation to challenging non-routine projects; makes presentations to clients; delegates project tasks to subordinates; and provides related training and supervision.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Works independently to validate, interpret, and integrate various geophysical, geologic, geotechnical, and well data to form a comprehensive assessment of site conditions with regard to drilling hazards and field development planning an assessment.
  • Oversees daily technical activities of all project assignments, including geologic and geohazards mapping, characterization, analysis, assessment, and related reporting.
  • All technical work is subject to the general guidance and review of a licensed professional geoscientist if this qualification is not met by the holder of this position.
  • Routinely interacts with clients on technical and occasional administrative issues and carefully documents project communications according to Fugro procedures.
  • Actively responsible for the procedural and general geologic mentorship of junior level staff. Project related guidance to be provided by supervisor.
  • Supervise field and laboratory operations of company and subcontractors and solve minor problems that may arise in the process.
  • Maintains project ArcGIS file geodatabases according to standard procedures and terminology for purposes of data management and map presentation.
  • Writes and prepares all aspects of technical reports; makes technical presentations. Performs peer reviews of technical reports as required.
  • Expected to be 85% billable to projects (on average) during periods of high backlog.
  • Complies with QMS and HSE requirements.

Job Requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions.
  • B.S. degree in Geoscience accompanied by some relevant full-time professional industry experience may substitute for graduate degree. M.S. degree or higher in Geoscience and a background in geophysics and/or engineering geology is preferred.
  • 5 plus years in marine site investigations with experience interpreting most associated geophysical data types and involvement in multiple associated project types.
  • Completion of comprehensive training course in interpretation of 3-D seismic data.
  • Proficient user of MS Office Suite and CorelDraw.
