We have a terrific opportunity for a self-motivated experienced Quality Control Technician working out of our Honey Creek Quarry located in Burnet, Texas off Hwy 281. The QC Tech is responsible for safely collecting, and test samples of all types of aggregate material(s) for plant operations and jobs. The technician will function in a day-to-day Quarry environment and will work directly with all members of the Quality Control department, Quarry Supervisors and Sales department. The technician will also be responsible for assisting in lab functions and needs to be familiar with aggregate testing and sampling (HMAC, Concrete and Flex Base Aggregates).
Minimum Qualifications:
General education, grammar and arithmetic, GED or High School Diploma or equivalent.
Agg 101 and SB 101
Knowledge of aggregate gradations
Previous experience with QC laboratory equipment and techniques is preferred.
Ability to provide and maintain proper certifications, licensure, and an acceptable driving record.
Work well under pressure, within tight deadlines to ensure deadlines are met.
Flexibility with schedule to work overtime if necessary to complete required tasks.
Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
Ability to lift 100 lbs.
Ability to climb, kneel, bend and stoop.
Ability to work in all outdoor weather conditions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain files and records of testing and inspection activities.
Acquire and maintain required ODOT certifications to TXDOT.
Maintain and upgrade skills through various training courses.
Maintain and calibrate testing equipment.
Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing.
Employs strong interpersonal skills and maintains the ability to foster positive, respectful customer relations.
Works successfully with difficult people under high stress situations.
Troubleshoots issues with material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.
Makes suggestions to Management regarding production issues.
Record and communicate test results to appropriate stakeholders.
Ensures OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance at all times.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Ensure laboratory area is clean and organized
Examine and evaluate data to determine material quality in relation to specifications.
