The role:

The Strategic Risk Oversight Senior Manager will report to the Enterprise Risk Management function and be responsible for leading the development, implementation, and oversight of SoFi's strategic risk framework. The role will work closely with the first line of defense business units to identify, assess, and challenge strategic risks, including climate and country risk. The role requires strong 2LOD risk oversight experience, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

What you'll do:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic risk oversight framework, supporting policies, standards, committees.
  • Strategic risk oversight will include oversight of Country Risk and the framework to manage and monitor risk exposure, including but not limited to;
    • Policies and standards
    • Committee development/alignment to ensure effective monitoring and oversight at the senior management and board level
    • Reporting to monitor country risk exposure, risk analysis, risk rating system, exposure limits
    • Ensure strategic, country and climate risks are considered in the strategic planning process
    • Develop structure to monitor and identify when changes in the economic, political, or social landscape may happen and assess impact to SoFi.
  • Conduct regular assessment and credible challenge of SoFi's strategic risks, including analyzing internal and external factors.
  • Establish the Strategic Risk Appetite statement, including both the qualitative and quantitative elements, metrics, and limits.
  • Provide guidance and oversight of strategic risk identification, evaluation, and mitigation strategies.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory developments, and emerging risks that could impact the organization.
  • Conduct training and awareness programs for employees on strategic risks and best practices and protocols to manage these types of risk.
  • Work closely with senior management and the risk management team to ensure activities are aligned with the companies strategic risk appetite
  • Prepare reports and presentations for executive leadership on strategic risk exposure, mitigation efforts, and key risk trends

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ Years in 2LOD risk management in the financial services industry
  • Knowledge of banking products, processes and regulations
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, influencing and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently or within a group under minimal daily direction.
  • Intellectually curious. You adapt to change, embrace bold ideas, ask questions, test assumptions, and challenge conventional thinking
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues, develop innovative solutions, and make data-driven decisions
  • Experience leading and managing meetings with cross functional teams, effectively and efficiently communicating and driving engagement from the first line of defense.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and deriving meaningful insights for decision-making
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, take ownership of deliverables, and drive assigned tasks to completion, in a timely manner.
  • Strong knowledge of risk management principles and practices
  • Experience with regulatory compliance and corporate governance standards
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives and competing priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to change
  • Strong team player
  • Exceptional data visualization skills

Nice to have:

  • Strong knowledge of applications such as Google Suite, Tableau, GRC/IRM systems and Microsoft Office products
  • Multi-lingual (Spanish)

The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate's experience, skills, and location.
