About this role

We're looking for a creative leader and storyteller with a passion for engaging employees across the globe to serve as Director, Employee Communications on Udemy's Global Communications team.

You will be responsible for developing and executing strategic communication plans to engage and inform employees across all levels of the organization. You will serve as an advisor to senior leadership and work collaboratively across Communications & Marketing, People, IT and other teams to ensure we're telling a consistent story across the organization that engages, inspires and activates Udemates around the world.

As a leader within the Communications team, you will report to the Senior Director, Global Communications. This is an incredible opportunity to lead an impactful employee communications function at a mission-driven company that is transforming lives through learning.

What you'll be doing
  • Set the long-term vision and strategy for how employee communications can inform, engage and inspire more than 1,500 Udemates across the globe
  • Drive employee engagement through employee communications efforts
  • Be a strategic communications business partner to senior leaders across our global organization, advising on the right forum, timing, and messaging of communications
  • Enhance current employee communication infrastructure with the right tools, resources, processes and policies to ensure targeted and consistent delivery of all companywide internal messages
  • Responsible for content creation and project management for companywide internal employee communication activities including executive communications, wiki, email, Slack and quarterly global all-hands meetings
  • Oversee day-to-day execution of internally-focused communications on various topics across the business including employee culture and values; Belonging, Equity, Diversity and InclusionEDI programs; employee resource group initiatives; HR announcements; finance updates; corporate OKRs and priorities; key milestones and celebrations; and product launches
  • Ensure consistent messaging that resonates across the entire employee journey, at all levels and in every corner of the world, bringing to life the human impact of Udemy's work and our mission
  • Establish or enhance measurement of Udemy's current employee communications channels and programs, evaluate their performance and engagement, and recommend how to maximize or evolve them
  • Partner with the People team to develop a plan and calendar for all HR and employee global communications
  • Collaborate with colleagues on the Global Communications team to ensure a fully integrated communications approach
What you'll have
  • Proven experience (10+ years) in internal communications, preferably in a leadership role.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and clarity.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical abilities, with the capacity to translate business objectives into effective communication strategies.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in change management communication, including the ability to navigate sensitive or complex topics.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to develop engaging content that resonates with diverse audiences and takes executives' communication styles into consideration.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in utilizing various communication channels and technologies, including intranet platforms, Slack, Zoom and video.

Actual compensation for this role is based on several factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, qualifications, experience, and specific work location due to differences in the cost of labor. In addition to a base salary, this role is also eligible for benefits, equity and a bonus.
