Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $56,600 - Midpoint: $73,600 (Salaried E9)

Department/Organization: 850701 - Voluntary Services

Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm; some nights, weekends, & university holidays.

Job Summary: The Assistant Director of the Center for Service and Leadership develops and maintains community partnerships to promote transformational, community engagement. Designs and develops volunteer initiatives and trains students for ethical, sustainable, and community empowering service. Assists the Director in overseeing the functions of the Center for Service and Leadership and provides leadership in the absence of the Director.

Additional Department Summary: Develops and maintains community partnerships to promote transformational community engagement and in cultivating civic leadership in our students. Oversees domestic and international volunteer initiatives and aid in the strategic planning of our volunteer efforts holistically. Trains and educates students on ethical, sustainable, and community empowering service. Assists the Director in overseeing the functions of the Center for Service and Leadership and will provide this leadership in the absence of the Director. Assists with facilitation of meaningful and innovative programming that is built to be foundational and mutually beneficial through community action teams, large scale service days, Serving Bama, and our civic leadership teams. Serves as the lead for Beyond Bama Alternative Breaks. Supervises the Coordinator of Outreach. Assists with the day-to-day responsibilities of the Center. Completes required training and promoting a safe, hospitable, and respectful workplace. Holds staff accountable for completion of required training. Has personal accountability for financial reporting and responsibility for establishing, enforcing, and following internal processes and controls as outlined in University policies and procedures.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of student life/student affairs experience; OR master's degree and two (2) years of student life/student affairs experience.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Ability to work some nights, weekends, spring breaks and holidays.

Skills and Knowledge: Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and community members/partners. Leadership, human relations, public speaking, financial and budget planning, and marketing and organizational skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Conflict resolution and mediation skills. Knowledge of personal computers and standard software applications.

Demonstrated commitment to expanding multicultural knowledge, awareness, and skills as evidenced through demonstrating self-awareness; understanding and valuing others; demonstrating knowledge of social inequalities; interacting effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, or related field. One (1) years of full time work experience in higher education or related field. Experience in training and group facilitation. Volunteer experience.
