Job Description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research (KI)-Langer Lab, to join the multidisciplinary Jaklenec Group. Will contribute to the development of injectable drug delivery systems for vaccines and small molecule therapeutics and engage in rigorous testing of novel drug delivery systems utilizing animal models, including mice and rats, with in vivo work being an integral aspect of this position. Responsibilities include conducting intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intraperitoneal injections in animals; in-vivo imaging and collecting animal samples, including blood, for quantitative analysis; fabricating drug or vaccine delivery materials; running in vitro release kinetics and biological assays (e.g., ELISA); the timely reporting of progress; training and coordinating the work of research support associates/students/employees/temporary staff; ensuring compliance with standards/regulations/laboratory procedures; and maintaining lab instruments.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: B.S./B.A. in biological sciences, material science, engineering, or relevant field; willingness to work with animals, including performing injections and collecting bio samples; two years' specialized lab experience (may include undergraduate experience); experience working with and maintaining technical instruments/equipment; comfort summarizing and reporting results to researchers; commitment to exceeding quality standards and producing accurate, high-quality work; strong organizational, time-management, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills; awareness of basic safety issues and ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment; and willingness to learn new tools/techniques. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team; multitask; and plan, organize, and coordinate work assignment/experiments simultaneously. PREFERRED: M.S.; relevant experience with micromolding techniques, nanoparticle synthesis, and/or microneedle fabrication; experience with characterizing drug delivery materials, biological assays, controlled release, biomaterials, chemistry, protein stability, molecular biology, immunology, and/or virology; and experience working with animals.
