Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Assists administration with annual budget and monitoring expenses to stay within budget.
  1. Ensures existing policies and procedure are followed within the department.
  2. Establishes and implements standards, work procedures and productivity for TEAMembers and departments.
  3. Ensures maintenance of sanitation and safety standards in accordance with facility infection control specialist, local, state and federal regulations.
  4. Establishes and coordinates goals and standards to coincide with those set by administration.
  5. Implements an orientation and training program for TEAMembers.
  6. Assists in interviewing job applicants as needed, making hiring recommendations to administrator when needed and takes steps to control preventable TEAMember turnover related to supervisory responsibilities.
  7. Commits to overseeing the daily tasks of all TEAMembers in a fair and consistent manner.
  8. Performs weekly inventory of department supplies, inspects storage areas, orders supplies accordingly, and stocks incoming supplies to ensure adequate items are on hand at all times.
  9. Performs weekly audits as directed by the administration and/or Director of Nursing.
  10. Must have availability at all times for departmental emergencies and responsible to respond to calls, as needed.
  11. Must have availability for interview with any and all federal, state and local surveyors annually, or as often as needed, for TAW campus departmental inquiries.
  12. Assists administration and/or Director of Nursing with plan of correction for departmental deficiencies, noted during survey inspections.
  13. Oversees all day, weekend and evening shift department TEAMembers' assignments, providing weekend and evening room change over direction.
  14. Performs audits in conjunction with the EVS Leads, on each changeover, and coordinates with DME for any equipment needs.
  15. Maintains a working relationship with other department supervisors to assure housekeeping, custodial and laundry services can be performed without interruption.
  16. Reports any performance issues or concerns to administration regarding EVS, Custodial and Laundry TEAMembers.
  17. Serves on committees as appointed by the administration.
  18. Is a role model for staff by maintaining an exemplary record of attendance and punctuality as defined by Tabitha's attendance policy. Records all time worked accurately and consistently using the timekeeping method provided by Tabitha.
  19. Connects with the administration and/or Director of Safety and Risk Management immediately via phone for any and all accidents/incidents. Submits accident/incident reports to administration and/or Director Safety and Risk Management within 24 hours after the occurrence.
  20. Makes recommendations for equipment replacement, purchase of supplies, equipment, products and linen to administration.
  21. Performs job duties of housekeeping, custodial and laundry TEAMembers as a working supervisor including, weekend rotation.
  22. Participates as a TEAMember to ensure that the department workloads and facility goals are met.
  23. Performs tasks according to established time measure and standards.
  24. Demonstrates knowledge of department policies and procedures to TEAMembers, Seniors/clients, visitors and government agencies.
  25. Participates in performance improvement/quality assurance activities, as needed.
  26. Generates work orders in the Worx Hub system for any housekeeping, custodial and laundry department needs.
  27. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by the administration and/or EVS Director.
  28. Prioritizes workload, making adjustments throughout shift to meet frequently changing departmental needs.
  29. Willingly takes on additional duties during times of peak workload.
  30. Complies with HIPAA regulations regarding privacy by insuring that Protected Health Information (PHI) is safeguarded at all times. In addition, maintains a high level of confidentiality regarding any matter pertaining to any Tabitha Seniors/clients. Assures direct reports do so as well.
  31. Follows appropriate safety and infection control policies and procedures of Tabitha and/or community and regulatory agencies. Assures direct reports do so as well.
  32. Follows disaster plans and uses strength and agility during participation in preparedness drills and actual emergencies. Maintains a safe work environment. Assures direct reports do so as well.
  33. Completes required training and in-services on time. Demonstrates understanding of the course content and implements training in daily activities.
  34. Makes good decisions that contribute to the success of the department.
  35. Performs work duties within the assigned work environment related to the position, as assigned by Tabitha, regardless of TEAMember preference.
  36. Maintains courteous relationship with all co-workers, Seniors/clients, family members, loved ones, members of other departments, and volunteers, providing support and assistance to co-workers to ensure quality Senior/client care. Volunteers to assist others and seeks opportunities to serve Seniors/clients/loved ones/coworkers/Tabitha.
  37. Participates in meetings and in-services on both department and company levels. Assures direct reports do so as well.
  38. Maintains a good record of attendance and punctuality as defined by Tabitha's policy pertaining to attendance and punctuality. Records all time worked accurately and consistently using the timekeeping method provided by Tabitha.
  39. Complies with Tabitha policies and procedures as published by Tabitha and which may be, modified at Tabitha's discretion.
  40. Contributes to quality assurance and performance improvement activities by identifying instances of non-compliance and taking appropriate action, including reporting violations of Tabitha policy or regulations as appropriate to administration and/or EVS Director.
  41. Acts with integrity and in the best interest of Tabitha. Business relationships are conducted in the best interest of Tabitha, free of gifts, cash inducements, gratuities, favors, or other perceived improper inducements.
  42. Willingly completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

COMMUNICATION: Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the English language including instructions and labels. Sufficient fluency to be able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions, provide instruction to others, read and understand labels, read warning signs and/or labels, instructions, policies, procedures or other similar documentation, hold a conversation, participate in meetings, prepare legible, accurate and thorough documentation as required by the job and interact with coworkers and managers effectively. Ability to recognize and interpret non-verbal cues. Must be analytical, detail-oriented, flexible and decisive. Ability to respond calmly and clearly to emergencies, heavy workloads and changes in priorities.

WORKSITE CONDITIONS: Works indoors in a facility maintained by Tabitha that will typically be in good repair, clean, well ventilated and well lit. Frequent exposure to cleaning products, chemicals (including hazardous chemicals), wet or slippery floors and loud and/or continual noise. Occasional exposure to blood or body fluids including urine and feces. Works under daily and hourly deadlines, requiring uninterrupted periods of intense activity. Frequent exposure to Seniors/clients, including exposure to Seniors/clients who are experiencing extremes of emotion. Works beyond normal scheduled hours and on weekends and holidays when assigned. Is subject to extended hours or callback during emergency conditions or based upon needs of the organization.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to gain access to the work area and then safely perform the duties of the job while utilizing standard and specialized equipment, including but not limited to the equipment described below. Physical stamina with the ability to perform duties while moving about the work area for the entire shift with few opportunities to sit down and with little or no break between tasks. Strength and stamina sufficient to frequently and continuously lift, push, pull, reach, squat, kneel, bend, carry, twist, pinch, grasp, climb stairs while carrying supplies, assume and maintain awkward positions while performing duties (such as working to maintain equipment) and manipulating various supplies and equipment. Frequent periods of intense activity. Vision within normal limits (with or without correction). Must have unrestricted lift/push/pull ability and pass a 40 - pound physical exam demonstrating strength and agility prior to employment and from time to time thereafter at Tabitha's discretion.

EQUIPMENT USAGE: Standard and specialized equipment including but not limited to buffing machine, Electro-Static Sanitization (ESS) sprayer, doodle duster, mop bucket and mop, vacuum cleaner, wet floor signs, cleaning rags, cleaning solutions, wet/dry vacuum, scrubber, carpet extractor, recliner cleaning equipment, safety ladder, telephone and computer.

AGE REQUIREMENT: At least age 18.

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional education in field, preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of general supervisory or managerial experience with two (2) years' experience in housekeeping field (preferably in health care) preferred.

CREDENTIALS: Valid Nebraska Driver's license (unless otherwise allowed by law) and a good driving record required. Must possess auto insurance at or above Nebraska statutory requirements. Must meet Tabitha's vaccination requirements.
