Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing IT infrastructure team at a rapidly growing mid-sized company. This position is a great role for an individual who is energized by making things better and growing the company with a "roll-up your sleeves" hands-on approach. The position will report to the Manager of Infrastructure and execute IT infrastructure and Security initiatives. This role will have interaction with IT staff, C-level executives and VPs, staff throughout the organization, and vendors so excellent communication skills and being comfortable working with others is a must.
The Systems Engineer is responsible for the configuration, operation, and documentation of the Windows and Cloud servers, networks, system administration, and desktop engineering at all company locations, . This includes servers used for internal production, SaaS production, test and development servers for all systems, Office 365 administration and engineering, Intune, Azure engineering and administration, and other system and software rollouts. The role will be involved in solution selection and architecture of systems areas with the Manager of Infrastructure. While the role is primarily focused on systems, occasional work on desktop escalations are also required.
This role will work remotely but will require some travel to company sites in the continental U.S. for hands-on work.
Experience:
  • 5 to 7 years of enterprise Systems engineering or Systems administration experience including Windows servers in production environments.
  • 3 to 5 years of Network experience in Lan/Wan technologies, switches, and routers. SDWan/SASE is a plus
  • 3 to 5 years of scripting experience with PowerShell
  • 2 to 4 years Public Cloud experience with Azure
  • 2 to 4 years Office 365 administration
  • 5 to 7 years of experience with Active Directory, LDAP or other identity and security management systems.
  • 1 to 3 years of IIS Web Server configuration and management
  • 1 to 3 years Backup and Recovery
  • 5 to 7 years with the configuration and administration of supporting Windows system components (Domain Controllers, DFS, DHCP, DNS, WINS).
  • 5 to 7 years with Senior level knowledge of Windows Active Directory domain, domain integration and interaction with the network, Group Policies, Active Directory Trusts, Anti-Virus applications, etc.
  • Proven track record of achieving results working through outsourced vendor partners.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Automation tools, practices and techniques.
  • Proven troubleshooting skills with ability to independently research and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated track record of implementing automation and alerting.
  • Ability to perform pro-actively and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to be on-call for assigned rotation.
  • MCSE or related certifications are a plus.
  • Experience working as part of a collaborative, cross-functional team
  • Experience in troubleshooting and remediation within multiple Information technology disciplines
  • Experience installing and upgrading applications or databases and performing system maintenance
  • Familiarity with system and environment analysis, design, and optimization
  • Experience monitoring the operational status and performance of, and configuring as well as tuning, systems, networks, or databases
  • Experience with operating system commands and utilities as well as scripting
  • Experience with production system designs including High Availability, and Performance monitoring. Infrastructure as Code is a plus

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
