Inside the Role

The Finance, Purchasing, and Operations Specialist at Daimler Coaches North America plays a pivotal role within the spare parts department, serving as the liaison between business operations, finance, and purchasing functions. Reporting to the CFO in a dotted line, this position is responsible for overseeing financial figures, auditing transactions, managing invoices, developing contractual and process standards, and ensuring compliance across the organization. Additionally, the role involves financial planning as well as budgeting for the spare parts business, pricing alignment, vendor management, and support for purchasing activities, contributing to the overall efficiency and profitability of the spare parts department.

Position offers a starting salary range of$90,000 - $115,000 USD

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, andexperience.

What You Drive at DCNA

Financial Oversight:

  • Monitor financial figures, transactions, revenue, expenses, and profitability related to the spare parts business and work closely with the CFO to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

  • Conduct audits of spare parts business transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting principles.

  • Develop and control financial KPIs for the spare parts business, including operational planning and budgeting.

  • Provide regular reports and insights to the head of the spare parts department to support decision-making and strategic planning.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders in DCNA, DTNA and Daimler Buses in Germany to align financial planning and budgeting with organizational goals.

  • Ensuring that all material movement and spare parts sales activities within the material management system are transferred to the financial system.

  • Develop methods and processes to ensure a efficient information flow between the business and financial systemsetup.

OP Planning and Budgeting:

  • Develop operational plans and budgets for the spare parts business, taking into account sales forecasts, expenses, and profitability targets.

  • Coordinate with Daimler Buses headquarters in Germany and the Spare Parts Sales and Revenue Specialist to align pricing for spare parts and ensure margin targets are met.

  • Track actual performance against budgeted targets and analyze variances to identify root causes and corrective actions.

Centralized Purchasing Activities:

  • Develop contractual and process standards for the company's purchasing function, including spare parts procurement.

  • Collaborate with relevant departments to establish guidelines and procedures for efficient purchasing operations.

  • Provide support and guidance on purchasing-related questions and processes to internal stakeholders.

  • Implement robust supplier risk management processes to mitigate supply chain disruptions and ensure continuity of operations.

  • Monitor supplier performance and address any issues or concerns proactively to maintain a stable supply base.

Standardization and Compliance:

  • Guide and control colleagues across departments to ensure adherence to contractual and process standards.

  • Provide training and support as needed to ensure compliance with established guidelines throughout the organization.

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • BS/BA in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field AND 5-7 of relevant experience in financial oversight, auditing, invoice management, purchasing activities, or operation management

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships internally and externally

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance

  • Ability to lead and guide colleagues to ensure adherence to standards and processes

  • Proficiency in financial software and tools, with advanced Excel skills

  • Ability to multitask and manage priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • MBA

  • Automotive industry experience

  • Coach or truck SAP experience

  • Customer service and sales experience

  • Fluent in Lean Principles

  • Direct experience in a manufacturing setting
