Job Description

Embry-Riddle Athletics is seeking applicants for the 2024-2025 Social Media Marketing Internship. We are looking for an intern with a versatile skillset, who is willing to learn and bring a positive attitude to the workplace to help build upon the three pillars of the external department. (Build the Brand, Drive Revenue, Increase Attendance) Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is an NCAA Division ll institution and competes in the Sunshine State Conference.

Job Description:

  • Manage day-to-day posting and content aggregation on Embry-Riddle Athletics Social Media platforms (Department and team pages)
  • Support all social media content, engagement, and advertising campaigns across multiple platforms, with the goal of increasing brand awareness, driving fan engagement, and supporting various revenue streams
  • Monitor the daily social conversations of fans, influencers, other brands and teams to identify trends and best practices
  • Engage with local and national social media trends
  • Create KPI dashboards, develop thoughtful insights, and adapt the content strategy according to emerging trends
  • Ideate short-form videos to be used on Embry-Riddle socials
  • Document community events
  • Capture, edit, and post content from game day experience on multiple platforms
  • Assist in creation and implemention of a social media calendar to promote athletic events
  • Collaborate on the design and creation of print and digital marketing collateral (i.e. social media and website graphics, posters, magnets, schedule cards, etc.)
  • Assist in the development and implementation of season-long marketing campaigns, game-day promotional activities, game day scriptwriting, organizing presentations and groups, game day contests and entertainment, and manage in-game elements.
  • Develop fan relations - Responsible for interacting with fans and enhancing the fan experience.
  • Support all facets of Embry-Riddle game day as needed.
  • Support all needs of Embry-Riddle external department as needed.
  • Assist in special events.
  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Fans First mindset
  • Excellent organization, time management, and communication skills
  • Strong willingness to learn and work in a team environment
  • Knowledge of the functions of a collegiate athletics department
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and strategy (Instagram, X, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube)
  • Ability to influence and build working relationships among diverse individuals.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to create and maintain very specific timelines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous intercollegiate athletics or professional sports experience preferred, with an interest in sports marketing and/or collegiate athletic administration as a career path.
  • Knowledge and experience in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.).

Compensation:

Interns receive a total compensation of $21,840 for the duration of the internship. In addition, this internship offers an optional university meal plan (taxable). This internship does not include any fringe benefits such as housing or health insurance.

Duration:

10 months: July, 2024 through May, 2025.
