The Web Designer will develop web pages, email marketing collateral and other digital assets for the Office of Admissions' in-house Marketing and Communications Team.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in a related field. Two years of full-time Web design and development experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in graphics design, visual arts, arts and technology, communication design or related field.
  • Two years of full-time web design and development experience in a large organization.
  • Solid functional knowledge of HTML and CSS markup language.
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suites.
  • Experience utilizing a code editing tool, such as Adobe Dreamweaver.
  • Experience using a CMS platform, such as WordPress.
  • Experience using a CRM platform, such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
  • Functional knowledge of Bootstrap.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead design and development of HTML emails intended for mass distribution and build webpages using various platforms and templating frameworks.
  • Evaluate code to ensure it meets industry standards and is valid, properly structured, and compatible with browsers, devices or operating systems.
  • Work collaboratively with content editors, communication managers and other stakeholders to ensure mass email messages and web designs meet best practices and brand standards.
  • Crop, edit, optimize, enhance and place finished photographs and captions for web and email use.
  • Create other graphic elements such as illustrations, maps, charts and graphs, and original page designs, and translate design layouts from print to digital.
  • Manage multiple projects and timelines using a project management system, such as Basecamp.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Agile in learning new technology trends and advancements with the ability to quickly adopt technologies relevant to email marketing and website development best practices.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team setting, offer ideas and receive and implement feedback.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects with differing timelines.


Remote Work Notice
Following successful completion of an initial training period, a hybrid work schedule may be available, subject to business needs and departmental approval. Employee must be located within the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area and have the ability to be on campus for work activities as scheduled and/or with 24-hour notice. Completion and approval of a UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required, and use of personal computer, internet, and other standard equipment may be required. Remote work arrangements are subject to regular review and re-approval and may be cancelled.
