Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

Transit and Rail Designer - Perform design tasks that require the application of fundamental engineering concepts and formulas to support elements of the conceptual design, preliminary engineering, and final design of transit stations, transit facilities, and railroad track and right-of-way. Prepare technical reports and presentations to describe detailed engineering work and analysis in a way that is understandable to both technical and non-technical audiences. Perform routine checking and/or verification tasks to include further application of fundamental engineering concepts and formulas to perform quality checks on work conducted by other engineers, including review for consistency across engineering plans, compliance with design standards, review against VHB quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) checklists, verification of spreadsheet calculations, and technical review of documentation. Develop models and simulations to include support in the development of virtual models and renderings to create technically accurate project graphics that enhance understanding of engineering designs.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field and 3 years of work experience in the job offered or related field of Civil Engineering.

Must have three (3) years of professional experience using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, the Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign.

Position located in Boston, MA.

Remote work benefit available 50% of time within normal commuting distance from office location.
