Ag Processing, Inc (AGP) is seeking a highly organized, adaptable, Project Accountant with excellent communication skills to temporarily assist our fixed assets team in Omaha! In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of accounting tasks, including monitoring project spend and all accounting related functions for assigned projects using the Oracle Project Costing module, Oracle Assets module, and OnBase ECM.

This temporary position will last approximately 9-12 months, possibly longer, starting as soon as all pre-employment screens are complete. This position is report-to-the-office daily Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm.

Project Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with plant operations and purchasing to review and setup Operations provided projects.
  • Communicate with project managers and purchasing regarding contract documents, change orders, and other contract modifications.
  • Identify project associated fixed asset disposals and process for management approvals.
  • Monitor project activity, including spend, status of completion, and generate adhoc project reporting.
  • Review and approve invoice activity on projects, as well as work with outside vendors to obtain required legal documents for related project contracts, including lien waivers, affidavits, etc.
  • Coordinate with Corporate Tax and AP to ensure accurate tax treatment is applied per applicable state laws.
  • Coordinate with purchasing and Corporate Accounts Payable to investigate and resolve variances to ensure accurate cost assessments.
  • Audit final project spend, and setup associated Fixed Assets for interface to the Oracle Assets module.
  • Assist plant personnel with any questions or needs related to project accounting, including capitalization treatment and policy guidance.
  • Assist with month-end close process including preparation of journal entries, monthly accruals, project audits, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in accounting.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Agricultural production industry knowledge helpful.
  • Strong attention to detail, planning, problem solving and decision-making skills along with written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office products with emphasis on Excel and 10-key operation.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and handle multiple work assignments, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to manage 100+ fixed assets accounting projects at various stages.
  • Talent to resolve conflicts with individuals and groups both inside and outside the organization, think analytically and solve problems.
  • Proven ability to skillfully communicate in a courteous, professional, and effective manner both verbally and in writing. This includes communication with management, co-workers, customers, and outside business contacts.
  • Discipline to maintain strict confidentiality and possess a high degree of integrity and trust.
