Zoo Maintenance Worker- Assistant

Pay Range Hourly - $17.10 - $19.05

Department: Milwaukee County Zoo

Job Summary: To perform a variety of entry level maintenance tasks. To assist Maintenance Worker, and skilled trades when another person is needed.

Job Responsibilities:

• Under the guidance of the Maintenance Manager or Maintenance Worker, repair and maintain Zoo structures, equipment, enclosures. Help build props inside animal exhibits.

• Install weather stripping for doors and windows. To caulk windows and buildings for the purpose of energy efficiency.

• Basic painting of structures and equipment indoors and outside.

• Assist Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Worker 1, and skilled trades as needed.

• Assist System control coordinator take meter readings and basic data entry into Cityworks.

• Perform other duties as assigned including attending meetings and completing assigned training.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current resident of Wisconsin.
• Valid WI Driver's License
• Ability to lift/carry/push/pull 50 lbs.
• High School Diploma
• Some mechanical background/ experience preferred.
• Some experience in maintenance preferred. Some technical training in maintenance or trade during high school or tech college preferred.

• This is an entry level maintenance assistant job. Candidate should possess strong mechanical aptitude and a desire for employee growth.
