Job Summary

The GLP Research and Claims Development Lead is primarily responsible for Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) Study Director duties in support of EPA Registrations and Claims substantiation for product claims development. The individual acts as the R&D representative to the Regulatory and Marketing Departments. This includes but is not limited to EPA GLP oversight of internal and external studies, leading claims development and substantiation, technical writing, and playing a key role in the registration and maintenance of new and existing consumer packaged goods.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • GLP Study Director Duties
    • Study Director for all internal GLP studies and responsible for all GLP reports to be submitted for registration; internal GLP studies include but are not limited to efficacy, stability, and product chemistry to support the Home & Garden Insecticide and Herbicide portfolios.
    • Oversee all internal and external GLP studies and maintain a tracking system to track all GLP studies; maintain all necessary documentation for GLP.
    • Ensure SOPs are in compliance and revise or create new SOPs accordingly.
    • In charge of training functional area personnel on GLP guidelines and ensuring personnel are qualified to perform studies according to GLP.
  • Claims Development
    • Utilize project management skills to oversee the generation and maintenance of claims development and claims substantiation data.
    • Lead discussions with cross-functional teams (marketing, regulatory, product safety, legal, etc.) to document and track claims development and substantiation.
    • Review package graphics for compliance with technical formulation and all substantiated claims.
  • Regulatory and Marketing Liaison
    • Provide technical leadership for all registration activities in R&D (Including Confidential Statement of Formulation management, and base label development, graphic development guidance, etc.).
    • Assist regulatory to develop base labels in a timely fashion.
    • Work closely with regulatory and marketing to create product timelines to facilitate planning and cross-functional discussion.
    • Collaborate with and assist the Regulatory group on preparation for and support of inspections by regulatory agencies.
    • Maintains awareness of the EPA regulatory requirements and communicates to R&D as needed.
  • Carry out job duties independently, including study-specific inspections, internal system / process based-audits, and external supplier CRO (contract research organization) audits. Requires minimal supervision or direction.
  • Recommend plan of action for satisfactory resolution of quality and regulatory compliance issues.
Education and Experience Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in biology/chemistry or a related science.
  • In-depth knowledge of GLP regulatory standards; experience as a GLP Study Director.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in function or related fields, such as, formulation, toxicology, bioanalytical laboratory, analytical chemistry, clinical pathology, entomology, Quality Assurance and/or Regulatory Affairs.
  • Experience in Project Management a plus.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
  • Prefer previous experience formulating pesticides, herbicides, household chemicals, or experience in EPA GLP testing and/or other regulated consumer packaged goods.
  • Prefer experience in an innovation team or entrepreneurial environment.
  • Experience with consumer-packaged goods a plus.
Required Skills

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both oral and written, are fundamental.
  • Ability to organize and carry out multiple projects with attention to detail.
  • Computer literate and experienced with Microsoft Office Suite Programs and Product Management systems experience (i.e. SAP Product Lifecycle Management).
Work Environment
  • Must always understand and demonstrate safe work practices to ensure a safe work environment.

  • This role requires travel and flexibility in your schedule as you will need the ability to work in hybrid office and laboratory environments.

  • Minimum travel is required (less than 10%).
