Job Title: Clinical Pharmacist, Internal Medicine (Assistant to Associate Professor)

Job Summary:

This faculty member will practice as a member of the multidisciplinary teams of the inpatient adult Internal Medicine (IM) services of the UCHealth/University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) on the Anschutz Medical Campus of the University of Colorado in Aurora, Colorado. UCH is the largest hospital in the UCHealth system and the largest academic medical center in Colorado. The successful candidate will practice in partnership with other faculty at the School of Pharmacy. This faculty member will be expected to participate in innovative clinical practice in IM at UCH (approximately 60% time), which serves as a model site for student and resident training and affords opportunities for scholarly and research activities. Responsibilities of clinical service at UCH include providing direct patient care to IM teams, including daily rounding, medication management, and education of medicine teams. Medication management includes pharmacokinetic and anticoagulation monitoring, order entry and verification, participation in antimicrobial stewardship activities, patient education, and discharge counseling. Other responsibilities at UCH include training of PGY1 residents on rotation. In addition to clinical practice, the successful candidate for this position will be expected to provide experiential training and classroom-based education/facilitation within the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum (both on-campus and distance degree programs), engage in service and scholarship activities in support of their clinical and teaching efforts, and to pursue endeavors that advance their professional development as an academician. Options are available for a part-time appointment (not less than 80% time)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in providing exemplary evidence-based clinical pharmacy services in adult internal medicine.
  • Provide high-quality teaching services in the School of Pharmacy Doctor of Pharmacy program. Teaching includes preparing and presenting lectures and active learning sessions, precepting student Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPEs) and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs), evaluating student performance using various assessment methods, and mentoring and advising students.
  • Produce scholarly work in support of educational activities and/or clinical practice. Scholarly activity includes writing manuscripts (e.g., research articles, educational innovations, textbook chapters, therapeutic summaries/review articles) which are published in peer-reviewed academic journals. Scholarly work may also include conducting research projects which are focused on demonstrating clinical innovations and demonstration of value of clinical pharmacy services, and obtaining extramural funding to support clinical or educational scholarship.
  • Participate in professional service activities such as university or school committee work, participation in professional organizations, and attendance at seminars, conferences, special courses, and scientific meetings.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Assistant Professor:

  • PharmD degree
  • Must have completed PGY1 residency training
  • Must be eligible for pharmacist licensure in Colorado

Associate Professor:

  • PharmD degree
  • Must have completed PGY1 residency training
  • Must be eligible for pharmacist licensure in Colorado
  • Previous experience in an academic setting

Preferred Qualifications:

Assistant Professor:

  • Advanced training through a PGY2 residency in Internal Medicine or a related medical specialty; equivalent previous practice experience may substitute for PGY2 residency training.
  • Board certification in an area appropriate for training and experience, (i.e., BCPS)
  • Previous experience in an academic setting

Associate Professor:

  • Advanced training through a PGY2 residency in Internal Medicine or a related medical specialty; equivalent previous practice experience may substitute for PGY2 residency training.
  • Board certification in an area appropriate for training and experience, (i.e., BCPS)
  • Two (2) or more years of previous experience in an academic setting

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Assistant Professor: $119,000 - $130,000.

Associate Professor: $141,000 - $147,000.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
