SUMMARY

Hennepin Healthcare has a current opening for a Portfolio Manager in our Supply chain department. This full-time position will work primarily remote but will need to be on-site occasionally. This position will be involved in the administration of complex, multi-layered, multimillion dollar contracts including but not limited to: Construction, Capital Equipment, and Lease/Service Agreements. There will also be five FTE's reporting to this individual (2 Buyer/Planners, 1 Contract Specialist, and 1 Sr. Supply Chain Analyst). Also responsible for managing vendor relationships and delivering improved costs, quality, delivery, responsiveness and technology leadership from vendors. Negotiate and administer complex, multi-million dollar contract negotiations to identify opportunities for cost savings related to product, service and process standardization and utilization from creation to execution. Collaborate with all levels of the organization, including senior leadership and physician leadership, to identify and implement cost reduction, evaluation, standardization, and process improvement initiatives. Responsible for validating assumptions using strong analytic and benchmarking data when appropriate, as well as ensuring effective, results-oriented project outcomes, including implementation of proper analytic reviews technology assessments and other product evaluations. These activities will be conducted in line with the organization's mission of maintaining or improving the quality of care provided to patients.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to lead the department by setting talent management strategies, building successful teams, and working to develop strong relationships with all stakeholders
  • Adminstration of complex, multi-layered, multimillion dollar contracts
  • Ability to negotiate complex contracts and develop vendor specific scorecard metrics
  • Conducts RFx's in conjunction with other departments
  • Manages vendor relationships and monitors vendor performance for continuous improvements
  • Supports new product launch and product conversions
  • Leads multi-disciplined project teams
  • Serves as a key liaison between the Medical Center, administration, departments, clinical staff and Supply Chain Management to ensure cost-effective utilization of products, services and processes, including but not limited to capital equipment, technology and process-related activities
  • Engages in process improvement-related activities include LEAN principles, operational and clinical resource management opportunities that improve clinical efficiency while maintaining or enhancing the quality of patient care
  • Applies advanced knowledge and expertise to identify products, services and processes that can be standardized, modified and/or eliminated
  • Designs, implements and ensures compliance with protocols for the optimal, standardized use of selected products, services and processes in collaboration with appropriate department managers/directors
  • Collaborates with departments to monitor and report on compliance of implemented changes in products, services and processes
  • Recommends studies for new or alternative sources of products, services or processes to ensure maximum cost effectiveness
  • Ensures that all product, service and process trials and evaluations are unbiased and conducted in a professional manner
  • Achieves organizational goals through coaching, providing feedback, setting performance goals, and motivating staff to meet and exceed those goals
  • Performs other duties as assigned based on the needs of the Supply Chain Management Department
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree in a health related specialty, business administration, supply chain or a closely related field
    • 7 years Supply Chain experience including direct responsibility for contracting and sourcing
    • 3 years people management experience

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master's Degree in health related specialty, business administration, finance, supply chain or a closely related field
    • Seven plus years of experience in Supply Chain Management, with experience working in a hospital supply chain management department;
      Minimum of 4 years' experience in a medical center, hospital, clinical setting, or health care related organization
    • Project management certification
    • Previous experience using healthcare data
    • Previous experience participating on or conducting a product evaluation, value analysis or process improvement committee
    • Knowledge of clinical improvement processes
    • Professional certification preferred, i.e., RN, CMRP, C.P.M., CPSM
    • Juris Doctor (JD) degree
