Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Photographer Assistant will assist the Photography team in daily production of studio and
location photography for print and web usage.

Starting pay: $21.00

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

  • Coordinate with Distribution Center associates for products to be pulled for photography.
  • Follow direction from photographer as to lighting, camera, digital workflow, including
    capture, folders and naming sequences.
  • Strike and clean studio/location set of equipment and product.
  • Maintain cameras, lens, computer, lighting and grip equipment for proper working order.
    Assist in digital capture and workflow.
  • Work with photographer on placement of product on set.
  • Repack and coordinate return of products with Distribution Center associates.
  • Track productivity and inventory moving through the Photography department with
    spreadsheets
  • Other duties, assignments, and specific projects assigned at the discretion of management.

  • MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & SPECIAL ATTRIBUTES
    Bachelor's Degree (or 4 years of equivalent work experience), preferably in Photography,
    Photo Journalism, or related field
  • Entry level; zero years of relevant work experience is required (in addition to degree or years
    of previous experience)
  • Skilled knowledge of camera, lighting and production software required.
  • Skilled knowledge of the Macintosh operating system preferred.
  • Novice proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Basic knowledge of digital workflows.
  • Collaboration: Able to develop cooperation and teamwork while participating in a group,
    working toward solutions which generally benefit all involved parties. Able to build
    relationships with others by offering help and providing suggestions for improvement.

  • ESSENTIAL MENTAL AND PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS
    Mental Functions:
    The person in this role performs duties of a routine nature where the incumbent gradually
    assumes the specific responsibilities associated with the job class. Decisions taken at this level
    relate to routine matters. Autonomy in the performance of work is limited and tasks are carried
    out according to the detailed instructions of an immediate supervisor.
    Physical Functions:
    Lifting and standing required 37.5% of the time, respectively. Walking required 15% of the
    time. Sitting and climbing required 5% of the time, respectively. The person in this role must be
    able to lift up to 40 lbs.
    EQUIPMENT USED
    Standard office and computer equipment including MS Office software.
    WORK ENVIRONMENT
    * Commercial photography studio environment with limited exposure to elements or health
    hazards.
    * Warehouse environment, subject to moderate temperature changes. There are minimal health
    hazards due to working on or around a forklift.
