Job Summary

Job Summary
This position plans and teaches at the City's school year based, Periwinkle Outdoor Explorers program. This outdoor, nature driven program is for ages 3 -5. Based out of the Edith Moulton Park, this play-based program is for active children who love to explore nature. Instructors will use a variety of materials from the environment to create innovative art and open little eyes and minds to the wonders of weather, flora, fauna, bugs and more. Instructor must maintain a creative, safe, and stimulating outdoor preschool environment.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Good verbal, written, and telephone communication skills are required.
  • Ability to interact courteously with the public.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated good judgement in problem solving and responding to customer needs.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Must have knowledge in the skill or activity instructing.
  2. Must have previous experience working with children.
  3. Must have or be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification by start date.
  4. Must successfully complete a thorough background check as required by the Child/Adult Abuse Information Act.
  5. Must be age 18 or older.

Work Conditions & Physical Activities
Work is performed in an outdoor setting with seasonal temperature extremes. An outdoor shelter is on site. Must have the ability to lift and carry 30 lbs. Must be able to walk, climb, bend, and stoop to complete tasks.
