Your Job

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager works at the Global Innovation and Development center in Hudson Wisconsin, an organization with over 150 individuals committed to the conceptualization, development, and clinical manufacturing of combination products, diagnostic devices, and medical devices. The manufacturing engineering teams works closely with other engineering groups including Mechanical Design, Human Centered Design, Hardware and Software, Program Management, Validation and Quality. The focus of the manufacturing engineering group is the development of assembly processes for all stages of development. This will include hand assembly in early stages of development up through semi-automated assembly in late-stage development or early commercial production. This will include assisting with design for assembly, specifying and purchasing of equipment, process development, validation and build support. Final steps would be participation in design transfer activities to a commercial site.

What You Will Do

  • Help your team understand Principle Based Management, leverage their individual gifts and continually grow, develop, and self-actualize.
  • Lead your team's engagement in continuous improvement and standardization of the processes used to develop manual and semi-automated assembly lines.
  • Provide technical support to teams when challenges are encountered with assembly development.
  • Monitor project timelines and support team to implement corrections to meet milestones.
  • Actively participate in proposal development meetings and reviews.
  • Leadership and application of problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives, such as lean manufacturing, root cause analysis, 6S and six sigma projects.
  • Stay current on new and/or updated technology, manufacturing practices and processes related to medical devices, diagnostic and drug delivery devices.
  • Build relationships with our customers to support the development of programs.
  • Provide oversight to programs through the development process and then through the design transfer process.


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, or a minimum 5 years experience in a related engineering field.
  • Experience leading teams and providing oversight of multiple projects
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in medical device or drug delivery development or NPI project leadership or management of product development
  • Experience in an ISO 13485 environment


What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering, scientific or related technical field
  • Experience in leading the development of assembly processes of medical products
  • Experience with initiating and driving continuous improvement efforts to improve systems, processes and methods.
  • Experience using Root Cause investigation tools.
