Job Description
The Mellon College of Science is home to four departments and many programs and research centers that cross subject areas. We approach scientific problems from fresh angles using creative interdisciplinary approaches while drawing on our departmental strengths in the core sciences. MCS faculty members are nationally and internationally recognized for their research in a variety of fields including polymer science, cosmology, mathematical finance, and neuroscience.

We are searching for a part-time Research Associate to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in an exciting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by providing support to the laboratories within the Mellon Institute.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Being responsible for the safe disposal and handling of chemicals, including hazardous materials, laboratory equipment and small instrumentation and basic laboratory supplies.

  • Coordinate and perform general laboratory maintenance.

  • Assures that laboratory procedures meet regulatory and government standards.

You should demonstrate:

  • Excellent multitasking, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • High initiative and ability to work independently

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in any of the STEM fields.

  • At least one year of experience in a biology/chemistry research laboratory.

  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.

  • Typical Work Schedule: The number of hours will be approximately 18 hours per week.
